Chris Albinson
Managing Director
Chris is a co-founder and Managing Director of Panorama where he focuses
primarily on mobile and internet technology investments. Chris helped grow
four start ups most recently as Chief Strategy Officer for Digital Island
(NASDAQ:ISLD; acquired by Cable & Wireless in 2001). Previously, Chris held
corporate development roles at Newbridge Networks, Inc. where he led a $217
million corporate venture fund, which invested in 27 companies, including
Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR), Cambrian Systems (acquired by Nortel),
Abatis Systems (acquired by Redback Networks), Fastlane (acquired by Quest
Software), BNI Systems (acquired by Nortel), and PixStream (acquired by
Cisco Systems). Chris was also a General Partner at JPMorgan Partners,
co-heading the technology venture capital practice where he led investments
including Reflectivity (acquired by Texas Instruments), Greenfield Networks
(acquired by Cisco), and Valere Power (acquired by Eltek).
Chris believes strongly in building community to support entrepreneurs,
co-founding the C100, Marin Internet Entrepreneurs, and the Open Mobile
Super Club. He is also an advisor to Founder Labs, Grow Labs, and Partners
for Growth. Albinson has been a speaker, panelist, and judge at Web 2.0
Summit, Milken Global Conference, UC Berkeley Hass school, Canadian Venture
Capital Conference, the GROW conference, Banff Venture Forum, Next
Generation Networks, Red Herring Top 100, America’s Growth Capital
Conference, and the Gilder’s Telecom conference.
Chris currently sits on the boards of Federated Media, Jiwire, Fixmo, Vyatta
and Syncapse.
